Recently, Little Girl and I went to scout for better locations (other than the Floating Platform itself) to watch NDP fireworks that will happen on 9 August 2017. This year, the NDP 2017 is (back and) held at the Marina Bay Floating Platform.
Best places for Fireworks
We went for all the NDP rehearsals and previews, and there are top four suggestion venues/locations we recommend for awesome fireworks view at night:
Esplanade Waterfront Promenade & Jubilee Bridge
Personally, we believe that the best view to watch the fireworks is to go near the fireworks. Pick a spot along the long stretch of Marina Bay waterfront, it is as good as watching the NDP from the float and you get to see the both aerial and water performance too. The area is expected to be super crowded and please come early!
Benjamin Sheares Bridge
Coincidently, the Benjamin Sheares Bridge is the longest and tallest in Singapore. The bridge offers pedestrians a splendid view of the fireworks on Marina Bay. From this focal point, you can view the beautiful Singapore skyline, a good view of the Marina Bay, sunset, and fireworks together at one place.
Esplanade Roof Terrace
The top of the Esplanade Theatre offers another great viewing platform & a different perspective/angle to the NDP fireworks as well. It is an unobstructed view of the celebratory pyrotechnics.
Marina Bay Sands
Directly facing the Singapore skyline, you can catch the breathtaking view of fireworks up close too. After that, you can also watch the new Light & Water show (Spectra) 9.00pm at Marina Bay Sands. Note that the show at 8.00pm will be cancelled.
Timings for Fireworks
There are a few “small pops and false alarms” between 7.30pm to 8.00pm. Generally, these are the estimated timings for the fireworks:
- 7.38pm – Fireworks on Floating Platform only
- 8.13pm – Grand finale (2 parts), stay tuned after the song
Yes, the NDP party is back at Marina Bay Floating Platform and as usual, tickets are almost impossible to snatch. However, the best segment is always the fireworks and it is widely available for everyone across the island to enjoy. On the August 9, you have to be prepared – water, snacks, shades and power bank. Good luck in securing your favourite location for the fireworks and see you there, travellers!
