Good morning, travellers. I bought the Nest Cam from Amazon a few days back. First of all, the Nest Cam is easy to setup and it took less than 2 minutes using our iPhone app. After spending the whole week with the new Nest Cam, this is a quick review on my experience with it today!
This is a quick unboxing video
Why Nest Cam?
We have been researching and wanting to invest in an app-controlled wireless security camera that is easy to setup and maintain for home monitoring purpose. After reading all other reviews, Nest Cam came top on our list and we decided to give it a try.
Where can I buy Nest Cam?
The Nest Cam is an expensive gadget. Our very first consideration is to get a used Nest Cam instead. We went on to Carousell and it turns out that the cheapest we can get from a used one is still SGD200; and $298 for new. We also looked at Lazada which cost us up to SGD370 after getting Cashback from Shopback. We eventually end up at Amazon and got a better price at $420USD for 3 – that is SGD182 for a brand new Nest Cam. Since I was traveling to California, I decided to give it a try and got it via Amazon.

Here are some samples for the notification we got when there is movement:
Nest Cam is a superior wireless camera that offers easy setup and usability. However, these features do not come cheap and to store those video footages, you have to subscribe to the cloud. We also face other issues such as loss connections and we do not know why Nest Cam is not online. There is no “last moment” before it turns off and we do not know if it is a human’s fault or the equipment’s fault. Lastly, the devices are very warm as compared to my other home camera. Do we recommend this? Well, it depends. It is good to have such a device at home when we travel. However, the price is too much for a normal consumer and I feel that there are better alternatives.
Please take note that this is not a sponsored post. We are not paid to promote this product and all the opinion are based on the experience after a few days of using it.
Last side note, #dontsaybojio Amazon has finally arrived in Singapore (YES!!).
